Leslie Yost in the 1920 census lives with parents Jacob and Elsie M. in Philadelphia Ward 19. Surname appears to be spelled Jost (Jacob's parents were both German so it may be worthwhile searching this variant too). Jacob born in Pennsylvania about 1878, Elsie in Delaware about 1883.
Kids include Jacob Jr. (about 1906), Leroy (1909), Charles H. (1911), Leslie R. (1913), and Gilbert J. (late 1918).
I don't see Leslie or his parents in the 1930 census.

Leah, in addition to answering you here I also sent a couple files to you via your hotmail account, which resulted in a "Mail Undelivered" error message.
Look for them over the next few days but if they don't arrive perhaps you can supply a working email address.

i am truly sorry for this. i know the legacy45 does work because i use it daily. please try the other leahkoester2...@hotmail.com the legac...@hotmail.com may not be working because i have that one as my outlook default which is the only reason i can think of as to why it isnt working. i will keep chacking in here and if it still does not work i will set up another email with my cable company who provides my internet.
i really do appreciate your patience with this problem.

Could it be that she has a spam blocker set on to automatically reject messages from people she does not know. Not sure how hotmail.com works but know other services have this feature and you have to implicitly state the email addresses you will accept mail from.

Could be. I have had trouble with people that have Hotmail accounts before. Albert Conklin

Hotmail doesn't work like that but it does through wobblies now and then. However, it may not be a spam blocker that's caused the problem but the attachments. Some accounts don't allow attachments over a certain size. Others will treat them as spam and they'll be diverted into the account's junk mail folder *in webview*, ie they won't be downloaded to the inbox.
A switch to Gmail would solve the problem. I've dropped Hotmail in favour of Gmail.

Problem here, though, is that because of the tons of spam originating a gmail and google-groups, to say nothing of Google's reaction to spam reports from either, lots of people have killfiled both.
You - and Leah - might want to consider some other alternative. My ISP, for example, allows me up to 8 "mailboxes"/alternate names, as well as freely changeable anonymous email addresses, such as the one in the header here.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Google has stated that it does not intend to do anything about the spam that originates with gmail and google-groups. The end result will be more and more people using their killfiles.

I agree the lax control, esp since gmail dropped the invite only condition to getting accounts has been a problem but I haven't and don't intend to killfile either.

I use my gmail account for mailing lists (I'm not subbed to alt.gen via the mailing list), first contacts where there's a possibility of the address being sold for spamming purposes and for friends.
My ISP also offers the same option plus free webspace, neither of which I use. I don't use an ISP address because if I change my ISP (for poor service or an inability to control spam, for instance), it would mean that someone coming across a post in several years time would be unable to contact me. By using a non ISP dependent I can always be contacted. There's nothing more annoying than finding someone who's obviously connected to a family you're researching, mailing them only to have the mail bounced back as a non existent account
You'll note the address used in my Usenet posts is not gmail (and never was). It's a valid address that only needs the invalid changed to com. I just don't check the account very often <G>

PS: I dropped Hotmail because I couldn't access mail via webview and I don't use Outlook Express. I gather it is now possible to use an Hotmail account via other email clients now though.

Correct. I access mine with Thunderbird and it is no different than reading mail in my "ISP" account. Very convenient to access all my mail at once.
