I will say that even though KDE 4 is
different (and lacking in many ways), Gnome is still Gnome and
still leaves you scratching your head and saying "why". That is,
while you might believe that switching to Gnome is possible, it's
still just as broken and bizarre as it's always been. And

Well, I solved the 2 TB issue, at least if I use NTFS. To get the disk
recognized in Windows 7, I had to convert it to a gpt disk, rather
than mft. mft apparently only works up to 2 TB (and I guess not
always). Once the disk was converted, Windows saw it on eSATA and
could format it.
So is there a gpt option in 11.2? Is it meaningful for things other

Sorry to burst your bubble, but KDE is not an operating system.
Unfortunatly most people will confuse the OS, the desktop and the
programs. People think because k3b does not work, the desktop is bad and
as the desktop is the OS, because k3b does not work, Linux sucks.
I however now understand better how you think.

No, it is a matter of fact
The KDE4 "activities" for example lead to a better organised desktop
For a "standard user" though the differences would be hardly noticeable
after the system is setup
What makes you think that I am not using it in a production environment?
Your inbred arrogance?
Fine for you. It just occured to me as I dropped a cpu freq plasmoid onto my desktop.. yes
I did try to scroggle it but found nothing.
I have a 3 Ghz processor. When its throttled to 1 Ghz, 100% cpu usage would
really be 33% cpu usage at 3Ghz... so it should show 33% right? I doubt it
works that way though. They probably kept it simple with no taking account

A hearty AMEN! to that. I'm spending far too much time trying to
accommodate KDE4 changes. If the code base was such a mess, bite the
bullet and clean it up! I will find out soon enough. I take this seriously enough that I'm
freeing up an older machine to use as a test bed. I can't take the
production machines down just to test KDE 4.whatever.

That's a matter of opinion. Any major change to the way a system
operates is a serious matter. Not perhaps for hobbiests, but for
folks who use that system in a production environment as I do.
As a result I'm still running 11.1.
