  The problem is in identifying the start element without off-by-one &lt;br&gt; error. I hadn&#39;t time to think about it when I added the iterator, so it &lt;br&gt; remains a TODO item. But indeed, given the tree keeps the number of &lt;br&gt; elements near the root, it should be possible to find the path to the &lt;br&gt; start element in O(log N). (For a full binary tree, it would be trivial).

  Yeah, I guess you really need to set *r-d-f-f* to double-float. I don&#39;t &lt;br&gt; recall exactly why I generated these files assuming the float format was &lt;br&gt; double-float.
